News in Virtual Reality

The New York Times takes a step into virtual reality. Great app if you want to experience virtual reality, but you do not have the money to buy the fancy equipment, like the oculus rift, or the hololens. All you need is cellphone! This is a great app that offers a full 360 degree video viewing experience. There are two modes, one mode is just using your cellphone in cellphone mode, the second mode is where you use a Cardboard viewer that you can buy. The Nyt Vr app is available on Google Play and on the Apple App Store.

NYT VR is a mobile app that can be used — along with your headphones and optionally a cardboard viewing device — to simulate richly immersive scenes from across the globe.

The best experience with this app is with
  • noise canceling headphones
  • office chair, (or any chair that moves)

Some problems with this app is:
  • Video warping

Overall I love this app, even though they're minor errors I still like it. I believe that this is the future of news, this is a unique concept where more people would be engaged with the content.
